Living through my children

I never win anything. I have the worst luck when it comes to winning prize draws and the like. Although I remember once in Grade eight I did win a pair of canvas shoes for the "Know-it-all" contest. I had been admiring these shoes that had a cat face painted on them, and I just happened to have earned enough points to qualify to win them, and then I was lucky enough to have my name called to claim a prize before somebody else claimed them. That is the last time I can actually remember winning anything. I used to love entering different give-aways on the many crafty blogs that I visit, but I never win, so I no longer enter very often.
So when I received a phone call informing me that Kathryn had won first prize in the Milk River Watershed Poster Contest for her age group, I was super excited! The prize...her very own 2 man Coleman tent! When I told her she was almost as excited as I was. We both couldn't wait for the next few weeks to pass. Well today was the day that Kathryn was awarded her prize at the Milk River Watershed Council.

At first I was a little disappointed because it is way to windy to set up the tent outside. But then I decided that we have a big enough basement that we'll set the tent up for the girls to sleep in tonight. It's always important to test these things out before going camping. Now we are both looking forward to camping trips this summer, Kathryn can't wait to try out her tent...like really try it out in the woods.

I like to think she gets it from me.

This is what happens when you leave the bucket of foamy stickers out and a certain almost 3 year old gets hold of it.

Is it a bad thing that I encouraged her creativeness by laughing  and telling her how smart she was and not insisting that they be removed? I kinda like the look. It's much more fun than the plain black TV. Maybe she'll be a interior decorator.

Some of the Best words a Pregnant lady can hear..."We are going to have to move your due date ahead"

When I woke up this morning I was in the mind set that I was 28 weeks and a few days, but I knew that baby was measuring about 3 weeks ahead. This is no surprise. I've always had biggish babies(8lb 2oz, and 8lb 10oz). Although you could just plain say that my youngest was HUGE at 10lbs 13oz(born 100% natural). I had little hope that anything would actually change. I was prepared to plead my case....simply that I did not want to deliver another HUGE baby.

The first thing the nurse said to me this morning when I walked into the examining room was "So it looks like we'll be changing your due date. Baby is measuring larger than expected." Is it any surprise that my blood pressure was then a little(maybe a lot) high? That will get any pregnant lady excited!

Here are the facts as presented to me today.
1. At my first ultrasound on Jan 21 baby was measuring almost 3 weeks ahead, putting the due date at May 24th.
2. At my second ultrasound on March 18th baby was measuring a full month ahead, putting the due date at May 11th.
3. Because my cycles are as irregular as...(why can't I think of some great simile here?Kimber...what would you write?), keeping track of them is very difficult so the original due date of June 12th was based on my best guess as to when my last cycle was(which I thought was pretty accurate).
4. Because the three dates vary so much, it is best to go with the most accurate one, which is the date that we get from the first ultrasound.

So hooray for me!! In a matter of hours nearly a whole month passed by! However, if baby actually comes on or around May 24th I will be surprised. But on the other hand, I know that  baby will be born before June 12th, and since I have been planning on that for the past 28 weeks, I'll be pretty ecstatic with that result.

You've gotta try this.

I became a fan of this page on facebook called the 5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake. I decided to give it a try tonight. Absolutely worth the 5 minutes it took to make. The only thing I wish were different is the fact that I don't have any ice cream to go with it. It is pretty rich and to be honest it does have that spongy cooked-in-the-microwave texture but it is really quite tasty.

Fabric Issues

I wrote this little message to my sister in-law on facebook and then realized that it wasn't so little, that really it was a blog post. So here it now is as a blog post.
"I have all of this gorgeous fabric that I have recently purchased just because I loved it and with out any real project in mind, except that I would do something for me/baby. The problem is that I can't decide what it is that they were meant to become. Just when I think I have it figured out, I wonder if that is it's true destiny.
Yeah, I have issues. Check out this fabric selection.
I actually had a purpose in mind for the first two (green and blue hexagons and the purple 'feeling groovy'). They will become a baby sling depending on if I have a boy or a girl, but I can't bring myself to make the slings yet, because I may want to use whatever fabric I don't need for some other fabulous project. I think that I have decided that the last two(brown with turquoise flowers and the cream and green flowers) I will have my sister-in-law make into peek-a-boobs. I love them both they would be more for me than the baby anyways. As for the others, again depending on if I have a boy or a girl they may be made into car seat covers or something. The brown with green flowers is likely to be made into a skirt for me after baby comes.
I had originally thought that I would just make one of each of everything and then either give away or sell the ones that I didn't need....but I don't think I can. I love this fabric to much, after all I picked out for me. It may just be destined to end up in my fabric stash."

Nothing

It's been a week full of a lack of motivation for anything. Basically I just don't care. About what you ask? Well, anything really. Earlier this evening I went and flopped on my bed, less than an hour until it was time to put kids to bed. All I could think was "Do I have to? I'd rather just lay here on the bed". Usually I get busy and get stuff done once the kids are in bed, but this week I really haven't done anything, seriously not a thing. I don't even feel like reading. I might sit in front of the TV and watch...something, I don't know what exactly. Or I'll just waste time doing nothing on the computer. Basically, I find a whole lot of nothing to do and then go to bed. OH, and my nights have been terrible this week. I have ridiculous dreams all night long about, you guessed it NOTHING! I keep waking up through the night, visit the bathroom, go back to bed only to continue dreaming the same dream about nothing. By the time I actually have to get up in the morning, I feel like I have been up all night doing nothing, and I feel exhausted before the day has even begun.

OK, see I am rambling...about nothing. Back to me laying on my bed. Daniel comes in to the bedroom as he is getting ready to head out to a church meeting and I mention that I just can't get myself to do anything because I just don't care. He suggested that maybe it was time to force myself to care. Yeah he might be right, but I didn't care. Soon after Kathryn came in to tell me that Survivor was on and asked if I wanted to watch it. But I didn't, because I just didn't care. Tansley came in and came in and gave me a hug and soon after Kymberly came in, climbed up beside me and asked "you feeling sick mom?". "No," I said "I just don't care". "Don't worry mom." she replied and then gave me a big hug complete with the "mmmmm" sound and a squeeze, kissed my cheek and got down off the bed and headed out the door. As she left I said with a smile on my face "Kymberly, you are adorable, I love you!" "I love you too mom". And off she went. The three short little visits from my girls was enough to put a smile on my face and get me up off my bed to get them ready for bed. And now that they are in bed, maybe I can force myself to care about some of the stuff that needs to be taken care of...and maybe even with a smile on my face.

I love this picture

I have this as my background on my computer right now. I feel giddy every time I start up my computer. I've decided that I need to have this picture blown up and displayed in my living room or somewhere where I can admire it all of the time. I am one lucky woman to have this handsome man in my life. He is a loving husband that loves to spoil me. He is a wonderful dad that sets a good example for his children. He is a worthy Priesthood holder that loves and serves the Lord. I couldn't ask for anything more.
