Hello! Hello!

Welcome to the 6ix! Sister Murri and I are serving as Sister Training Leaders in the Ossington Zone. I love her! She us so meek and kind hearted. She loves Jesus so much and has a strong testimony of God in the details of every day life. 

Sorry Jace its a longer one this week. God is just too good I guess..... 

I am grateful to be serving in the thick of it all in downtown Toronto. It's crazy, and big, and I am very small, and feel a little bit like a baby missionary again, but I know Jesus and I know God, and They make me feel a good kind of small. A small filled with love and humility rather than the feeling of being small and insignificant. I think that feeling is easy to drown in, in the city. And there are a LOT of people who are trying to feel less small, who are trying to find significance, and don't know that Jesus Christ knows that feeling and can bring them out of it.

On Sunday our Zone Leadership Council had an impromptu call where we knelt in prayer and prayed to know how many of these people, who need the power of Jesus Christ in their lives, we can baptize this transfer. And we all recieved a witness of the spirit that there were 20 children of God prepared and ready to make that covenant. It has never been done in the Ossington Zone. But if God says then It would be silly if we doubted it.  #20bomb

In Mormon 9:9 it says "for do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing?"

Yes we do read that, but more than that, I witness it. The Lord's hand in the work is NOT the variable of the equation, nor is it the outcome of the equation. IT IS THE CONSTANT! The variable is our faith. Thats what we control. The equation is this: my faith×Gods hand=miracles (fG=M). 

And it's multiplicative not additive. The Lord's hand multiplies and magnifies my faith (confidence in God's plan with righteous action) and works miracles! And he will never stop doing that! Which means that God works (in his timing) according to my faith in him and his son Jesus Christ.

And boy oh boy have I seen that this last month! There could be a book from my 10 weeks in Mississauga titled "Mighty Miracles Slogging in the Saug" there were so many! We worked so hard! Sister Waldron and I got impatient for a brief moment and were quickly called to repentance as God dropped Gloria into our laps 3 days before the transfer ended. We invited her to be baptized the last day of the transfer and she is so excited to make that step! 

I don't want that momentum to stop now that I'm in Toronto. The missionaries in this zone are so faithful and God is working miracles! Sister Murri and I have met so many people and walked away from them with a return appointment and the biggest smiles in our heart and on our faces because we know that they are one of the 20 for this zone this transfer!

 I think Mormon 9:27 sums up this reality I'm living as a missionary perfectly, "O then despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord, and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand in need. Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him." 

And as long as we're doing that, we will continue to have the eyes to witness miracles. And Im not just talking missionaries, im talking about you too! God is a God of miracles for everyone! 

Pray to see the little miracles, the big miracles, and the inbetween miracles. Write them down and remember them! Remember where they come from! And if you want.... tell me about them! Reading about your experiences strengthens my faith and testimony!

Aug 25: Welcome to the Weekly Season 6 Ep. 6 Gettin Old and Burnin Up

Hello! Hello!

Transfers are this week and I am leaving Mississauga. Very big sad, the members and people here have my heart! They have just been so amazing! They love so big! I'm not going far though, just heading deeper into the GTA, Down Town Toronto is home for the next little bit. I'll be serving as a sister training leader and in the Toronto YSA ward. Also, I'm a grandma 👵 Sister Waldron is staying in Mississauga and training a new missionary! And she is going to KILL it! 

The last couple weeks have been long, yet so fast. Long because the work slowed down a bit after all of our friends either got baptized:) or dropped us:( It's been a grind to find, & a week ago sister Waldron & I were feeling frustrated, we wanted to keep the momentum going & it didn't feel like we were, even though we were working just as hard. 

Patience is a virtue & so is study & prayer, but I'll get to that. In my personal study this last week I felt prompted to study Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk Our Heartfelt All & learned A LOT! I felt like I was giving my heart felt all, & I wanted to know what more to give. Well I learned that it wasn't about what more to give, it was about the way I was giving it. I'm talking sacrifice vs. consecration.

 In this talk, elder Uchtdorf says that we aren't asked to sacrifice our lives, Jesus Christ already did that for all of us. Instead, we are invited to consecrate our lives. "When we consecrate something we don't leave it to be consumed upon the altar. Rather we put it to use in the Lord's service."

 We had been giving everything, but it was being consumed on the altar because we grew impatient & forgot God's perfect timing. As our effort was burning up we were burning out. That just won't do. 

So we refocused on Christ. "When we look at our lives & see a hundred things to do, we feel overwhelmed. When we see 1 thing to do -loving & serving God's children, in a hundred different ways- then we can work on those things with JOY." 

He hen said that we offer our whole wouls by sacrificing everything thats holding us back and consecrating the rest. So, I made a list of the things that were holding me back that I would sacrifice

-> doubts

-> overthinking

-> exhaustion

-> worries

-> what could haves 

And then intentionally consecrated the rest. Which made this last week in Mississauga SO JOYFUL! And our last day together here was no exception! 5 lessons planned, all went through. 1 person accepted a baptism date. We were able to serve one of our members and we found 3 new people to begin teaching, and help come closer to Christ. One of those people will likely be on date for baptism by the end of this week. God is real & He is so good. So we gotta pray. We gotta study. We gotta be patient. & we gotta consecrate. 

How can you consecrate your life to the Savior?

Aug 16: Welcome to the Weekly Season 6 Ep. 5 - Be Better

Hello! Hello! 

This past Sunday, Andre, Sami, and Noel were able to be ordained to recieve the Aaronic Priesthood. Which means they have the power and authority from God to perform certain duties to further the Lord's work here on the earth. They can bless and pass the sacrament and extend the opportunity to people to renew the promises we make with God at baptism. What a blessed experience it is to watch the people who God used my companion and I to help enter the covenant path, prepare to help others continue along the covenant path. The Lord's work truly is one eternal round. And I love watching these people strive to continue on the path they have set out on, strive to continue to be better.

Something my highschool math, physics and chem teacher (it was all the same guy, I went to a small school) always said to me was BE BETTER. After every silly mistake, every dropped negative, every vector miscalculated, and every oxidation number incorrectly balanced: BE BETTER. Before every test on the board he would write, "remember: BE BETTER". He trained my brain to catch the mistake in the moment and immediately correct it. 

This week I've been studying this idea of being better. How can I BE BETTER? That seems like a big task. I got a letter a long while ago from Elder Court, my cousin who is serving in the Vancouver mission and he wrote something that I was reminded of this week as a reread that letter. "We have so many things we feel we should be improving at, there is always something we forget. So take the mish one step at a time & become 1% better everyday cuz we can't do it all at once. Jesus Christ didn't know the scriptures right as he came out of the womb, think about that! That's something the scriptures don't tell us, but they do say that Jesus set the example for us." 

So, becoming BETTER happens little by little. There is always something on our to-do list that we forget, but if our desires are pure, and our effort is diligent, and both are focused on Christ, then we have no need to worry. To apply BEING BETTER this week, I've been praying for charity and patience in the very moment I feel it lacking. And as I've done that I've been able to remember that all the people around me are also just trying to BE BETTER.

I had a specific experience with one of our friend this week. Satan has been working hard to cause me to question the spirit I have felt teaching this friend & having charity to allow him to keep learning has been a struggle. I didn't like that I was dwelling on the negative and overthinking the reality of the progress and positive changes i have witnessed him make in the last month. 

I applied what I have been studying & prayed for charity for him, the answer to my prayer came from a talk I read from Henry B. Eyring "leaving a legacy of encouragement" (linked below) & was reminded that our friend is striving to BE BETTER! And he needs all the encouragement so that he has all the support he needs. This friend has made lifelong friends in the church and recieved the priesthood on Sunday. He is eager to go to the temple. And I am so proud of him. So when the time comes, and I no longer serve in Mississauga, I want my friend to remember the time sis Waldron and I worked with him, and feel encouraged on his journey. 

I know that charity is transformative. And I know that God answers prayers. And I know that because of the atonement of Jesus Christ we can be better in every day, in every hour, and every moment. 

I invite you all this week to BE BETTER in the very moment you notice a silly little thing to correct. Little by little, grace for grace, line upon line.

Aug 9: Welcome to the Weekly Season 6 Ep. 4 Met Simba while Slogging through the Saug

Twas anotha busy week in the Saug! Blessings <3

Our friend Noel got baptized! He speaks mostly Spanish. It was really cool to work with him and the Spanish members in our ward to teach him. A good chunk of the lessons we've had with him have been in English.... because I don't speak any Spanish... but everytime we met with him,  was amazed at how much Noel understood from the previous lesson, and how well he connected the dots.

 Noel was truly prepared to recieve the gospel of Jesus Christ into his life because there is no way, under normal worldly circumstance that he could have learned and retained as much as he has from 2 English speaking sisters if it weren't for the spirit. I have a firm testimony of the gift of tongues. I know that the spirit speaks in all languages! 

2 Nephi 32:2-3 

Do ye not remember that I said unto you that after ye had received the Holy Ghost ye could speak with the tongue of angels? And now, how could ye speak with the tongue of angels save it were by the Holy Ghost? Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.

2 Nephi 31:13

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism—yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.

That is the only way we were able to teach Noel. We have built a really close friendship with him. The Holy Ghost knits hearts together, no matter what languistic or cultural differences we may have. 

The rest of our week was kinda a slog, all of the people we were consistently sharing glad tidings with either got baptized, or stopped talking to us. So we're on the hunt for the elect, the people ready and searching for truth. I think we're doing a lot of preparing the soil for the upcoming carrot harvest right now ( see season 1 ep. 8). 

In my interview with my mission president this last week, president Stacey asked me "who is Kathryn Court?" And I've been thinking about that since then. 

Who am I? Right now I'm a missionary, but I haven't always been a missionary, in fact there was a time when being a missionary wasn't even on my radar. Who was I then? I was a university student studying child and youth care, things that intrigued me and helped me understand my relationship with the people and world around me. But I wasn't always a university student either. I went through all the things that I have ever identified with... I haven't always been a basketball player, I haven't always been a big hiker. I'm the oldest of 5 kids so, in this earth life, I haven't even always been a sister. 

But, I have ALWAYS been a daughter, I was born to goodly parents and, I have always had a father in Heaven even before I came to earth. And He knew what facets would make me, me. He knew what experiences, what hobbies, what people I was going to need to help me remember who I am and who I can become. But through every sibling born, every ball game played, every mountain hiked, every roadtrip driven, and every class learned, I have always been His daughter. 

Kathryn Court is a daughter of God. And thats really the only thing that matters. Everything else is a branch from that one divine and eternal truth. There have been times in my life, like all of you im sure, that in an effort to find out who I was, I spent too much time chasing a trailhead, or bouncing a ball, or studying a text book, and not enough time chasing Heavenly Father and His plan for me. I am grateful to be where I am today, and that I have an undeniable testimony of who I am and where I am meant to be right now.

Remember who you are. You are a son or daughter of Heavenly Father. And you are destined to be a king or a queen in the eternities. I know that each of you is a child of God.  And I want to invite each of you to ponder who you are, what is your divine identity? Are you destined to achieve a higher, holier potential? I promise you that the answer is yes!

Aug 2 2023: Welcome to the Weekly Season 6 Ep 3 Can I Get a Saturday Special: Wedding-bap Eternity Combo🍟💍🍔🌊

Hello! Hello!

It's really hard to fathom that this last week was only 1 week. A lot happened, & somehow it went from being on a mega high, to just kinda crumbling down. We shall start with the highs. Seriously an unforgettable experience to watch Andre, & Kiera, 2 people I love so much be married and baptized on the same day. 

I was feeling a little stressed & also felt frustrated with our efforts to find new people. I just felt like we were lacking. Which is silly because we jumped over every obstacle leading up to this day, youd think the Mississauga Ward was putting together an Olympic team. But that's what I felt. There was a moment when I had the distinct impression that what matters most, lasts longest. I was standing in the foyer, my companion to my left and mission president to my right, waiting for Kiera to arrive..... very late (but she got there and that's what's important, the buckets of sweat and deer in the headlight eyes were all worth it) and I just took a breath and remembered the following things...

 This baptism changed the entire trajectory of these people's lives. This day will stretch forward and backward for generations with all the people who came before them that they will be able to help bring into the restored gospel, and the family that they will build in the gospel down the road ahead.

And it all starts with these 2 people who made a covenant that begins their journey to an eternal life together forever, with their family & Heavenly Father. When I remembered that, & clung to it, focusing on what mattered most, the Lord provided the rest. 

We met the people that we were meant to meet that day, and planted so many seeds in nonmember friends that came to the wedding/baptism combo. Including Kiera's dad, who had the most tender experience watching his daughter marry the love of her life and be baptized. He has a testimony that baptism changes lives because he has experienced that change in his life.... imagine if he got baptized with the priesthood power! AND recieved the constant companionship of the holy ghost!! 

Members and missionaries alike came together to make it a miraculous day in so so many ways. It was a once in a life time experience that I never imagined being a part of ever in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is the redeemer and that He lives! I witnessed the living, real, and true effects that the Atonement of Jesus Christ has on people in Andre and Kiera this weekend. 

HE LIVES MY KIND WISE HEAVENLY FRIEND! HE LIVES AND LOVES TILL THE END! HE LIVES AND WHILE HE LIVES ILL SING! HE LIVES MY PROPHET PRIEST AND KING! HE LIVES AND GRANTS ME DAILY BREATH! HE LIVES AND I SHALL CONQUER DEATH! HE LIVES MY MANSION TO PREPARE! HE LIVES TO BRING ME SAFELY THERE! HE LIVES ALL GLORY TO HIS NAME! HE LIVES MY SAVIOR STILL THE SAME! OH SWEET THE JOY THIS SENTENCE GIVES! I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVES! 

I just want y'all to know this! I know with all my heart that Jesus Christ lives! 

I've been pondering and studying what i can do to choose everyday to enlist in the Lord's battalion. After our zone conference this week I decided that I needed to make a weekly sacrifice. 

As I studied what the lord asks us to sacrifice I read D&C 59:8 

Thou shalt offer a sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in righteousness, even that of a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

And then I studied what it means to have a contrite spirit. It means be receptive and submissive to the will of God. So in an effort to have a more contrite spirit, I decided that I would sacrifice my sticky note lists to focus more on the whispering of the spirit and less on completing all the things on my to-do list. This may seem like a small insignificant thing, but I live on sticky notes, they are everhwhere. Thats how O organize my brain but lately im too reliant on the lists and not reliant enough on trusting God to help me. I'm committing to living more by the Lord and less by the list. The things that are expedient for us to do get done! God's got it!

This week, I invite you to identify and act on one thing that you can do to be more receptive and submissive to the will of God. And give them Heaven while you do it! Love ya all many bunches!
