In case you wondered how we find people to teach....here are the tactics we have tried the last 2 weeks.
1. Wandering around Western University campus with an overly massive whiteboard awkwardly carrying it around to have people write the things on it that make them smile.... campus was rather empty, BUT we met Mitchel who stopped and talked to us for a solid 10 minutes. We had another lesson with him the other day. And we have another lesson with him next week!
2. Hanging up flyers for every activity imaginable in bus stops and on street poles. Someone's gotta see em. We're determined to get all of London to basketball and volleyball.
3. In addition to hanging up flyers, Sister coulson has taken to hopping out of our car at red lights to hand flyers to the cars next to us. Surely one of them will come one day to one of the activities.
4. More flyers on social media. We had 4 people come to volleyball night because they saw the flyer on Facebook. One of those people is interested in learning more. His name is Billy. Bless up.
5. Wandering around Fanshawe college campus with jars of compliments to give them to everyone we saw. Many smiles, a handful of numbers recieved and 2 follow up lessons on saturday.
6.Running across campus streets and gardens to talk to a guy I waved at.... less fruitful. He bashed us, but he was happy to take the compliment from my jar. I hope he had a good day.
7. Asking people questions of the soul to get them to stop and think.
8. Sitting at a bus stop texting people and saying hi to everyone that passed by. Everyone thought we knew them from somewhere. No just want to share Jesus with ya. We have a lesson with one of those people later this week as well.
9. Talking to the galpal in the laundry room while switching our laundry to the dryer. She had a tough shift at work yesterday and her cross necklace broke. But she's getting it fixed and wants to find time to meet with us again.
10. Visiting inactive members to take them cookies and sing them a song on the uke. No one has been home or all the addresses are wrong. But we've met people from knocking on all those doors. Have some funny stories to go with them. And more cookies for me. Wins.
We've been trying it all. And we got some more stuff up our sleeves for God to work through. It's been fun, hard work. I'm grateful to be doing it with Sister Coulson who is genuinely one of my favorite humans. I need her more than I need a Dr. Pepper (or can of coke papa bear😉). I love her so many bunches.

On the more spiritual side on all of these shenanigans, I've been studying a lot about consecration and how it is about bring things to the altar to be magnified by God not burned away. The things that are to be burned at the altar are those things which are holding us back from Jesus Christ. We sacrifice those things and consecrate the rest. Sister coulson and I are bringing a lot to the altar and God is magnifying our fun creative efforts in big and little ways.
Bring your things to God. He'll let ya know if it's worth magnifying or if it should be done away with. Let those things be done away, even if it's hard. God's got something way bigger way better ahead I promise. And I know it because I've seen it in so many parts of my life. And in the ways that I haven't yet, Im learning to trust that there's something bigger and better than I've ever imagined.
